Get a copy of Starting Strength 3rd Edition from Mark Rippetoe. This is “the” definitive guide to strength training with barbells and provides a solid foundation of knowledge covering the “why” and “how” of barbell training. It breaks down the Squat, Press, Deadlift, Bench Press, Power Clean, as well as useful Assistance Exercises. Programming, equipment, nutrition, and other topics are also covered.
